  Julianne E. Murray, Esquire

  Before practicing law, Julianne Murray worked for 20 years in a law firm environment, equally split between technical paralegal work and law firm management. Julie continued to work as a law firm Administrator while attending law school until her final year of law school where she served as a judicial extern to Justice Henry DuPont Ridgely of the Delaware Supreme Court. Admitted to practice law in Delaware in 2011, Julie opened Murray Law LLC in early 2012 because she had a vision of a law practice that was based on constitutional principles and marked by personal service and a common sense approach. She introduced herself and her practice by doing a daily call-in on a local radio show. For eighteen months, she used the call-in time as an educational segment that focused on various aspects of the law and conducted many “schools” on topics such as the U.S. Constitution, the Delaware Courts, real estate, landlord/tenant law, traffic offenses and estate planning. In January 2015, she and Ron Phillips formed MurrayPhillips P.A. The partnership has turned out to be beneficial for clients because Julie and Ron really like working together and often collaborate on criminal defense cases because each brings different strengths to a particular case. Julie’s current practice is comprised of approximately 60% criminal defense, 15% estate planning and estate administration, 15% real estate and 10% municipal. Julie’s down to earth approach to the practice of law is appreciated by her clients and she prides herself on being candid, approachable and easy to work with. She takes the responsibility of being an attorney very seriously and zealously represents her client’s constitutional rights. Julie has argued before the Delaware Supreme Court en banc twice in four years and loves the challenge of appellate practice. Julie and her husband Patrick moved to Delaware in 2003 from Anne Arundel County, Maryland. They are both pet lovers and avid baseball fans.

  Ronald D. Phillips, Jr., Esquire

  Ron Phillips is a native of Sussex County and has been a Delaware lawyer since 1994. After attending college at Elon College in North Carolina and Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, Ron attended Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, Ron wanted to return to Delaware in order to serve the community he grew up in. Ron first worked as an associate for the law firm of Hudson, Jones, Jaywork, Williams and Ligouri and practiced out of the firm’s Dover office. In 1998, Ron became a partner with the firm and was the resident managing partner of the Georgetown office from 1998 until 2003. In 2003, Ron left the firm to open his own office in Georgetown which ultimately led to the formation of the Law Offices of Murray, Phillips & Gay. Ron’s current practice centers almost exclusively on criminal defense and he has successfully defended cases ranging anywhere from murder to simple traffic tickets. As a lawyer, he believes that every person is entitled to be treated fairly and with dignity regardless of the charges they face. He understands that when a person is accused of a crime, the entire weight of the judicial system can come crashing down on that person and often Ron is the only one who can protect his client from an unfair conviction or sentence. Ron relishes the role of the underdog and the opportunity to protect his client’s from unfair accusations. He takes his role as a defense attorney extremely serious and seeks to provide his clients with honest, candid and useful advice tailored to the specific needs of each client. He believes each and every client is entitled to the best representation, regardless of the crime charged. As a lifelong resident of Delaware, former high school and college athlete, and a veteran lifeguard, Ron’s personal interest center around salt water activities and sports. He loves surfing, boating, the beach, football, and spending time with family, and friends, usually culminating with a cold beverage.   Thomas E. Gay, Esquire

  In September 2017, Thomas E. Gay joined the law firm with Julianne E. Murray and Ronald D. Phillips, Jr. forming the Law Offices of Murray, Phillips & Gay. Mr. Gay was previously a partner with the law firm of Stumpf, Vickers & Sandy, P.A. in Georgetown, Delaware from 1999 to 2017. Mr. Gay is the frequently called the best family lawyer in Southern Delaware. In September 2017, Thomas E. Gay joined the law firm with Julianne E. Murray and Ronald D. Phillips, Jr. forming the Law Offices of Murray, Phillips & Gay. Mr. Gay has been a guest speaker at “Fundamentals of Family Law,” “Custody Evaluations for the Private Practitioner,” “Property Division in the Family Court,” “Divorce Law 101-Obtaining the Best Settlement for Your Client in Delaware,” to name a few. Mr. Gay has been selected as one of the Top Delaware Family Law/Divorce attorneys in Delaware Today magazine. Mr. Gay was admitted to the State of Maine Bar in 1992 and the Delaware Bar in 1994. He is admitted to practice before the Delaware Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of the United States. EDUCATION: Thomas Gay earned his B.S. in Biology in 1987 at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. He attended law school at Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, DE and graduated with his J.D. in 1991. During law school, he participated in the Family Law Clinic-Delaware Volunteer Legal Services. Mr. Gay worked for the State of Delaware, Family Court, Kent County as a law clerk for The Honorable William N. Nicholas and The Honorable William J. Walls from 1992 until 1993 when he joined Stumpf, Vickers & Sandy, P.A. MEMBER: Thomas Gay is a long-standing, active member of the Terry Carey American Inns of Court. He is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association, the Maine State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. AREA OF PRACTICE: Family Law – Thomas Gay primarily limits his practice to Family Law, also known as Domestic Relations Law or Divorce Law. Mr. Gay has been primarily engaged in Family Law representation including child custody law since being admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1994. Mr. Gay has represented clients in all three counties of the State of Delaware yet the majority of his legal representation taken place in Sussex County, Delaware. Mr. Gay has extensive trial experience in Family Court of the State of Delaware and is a zealous advocate.
